Building Their Brand
The United States Coast Guard Academy approached us for the creation of a national ad campaign. Their team wanted to highlight the strengths of the school, take aerial photography and video of the campus and include footage of their cadets.
We took on the project with excitement and visited their campus with our video equipment and drone. Long days of shooting, a top-notch video crew and a great team at the Coast Guard Academy resulted in this 30-second finished ad.
What Was Involved
Variable Camerawork
To get all the different shots we wanted, we used a number of different rigs. Some low angled shots took handheld camera work, while other shots utilized camera mounts for a higher perspective. We also had sliding mounts to create tracking shots of the cadets.
Drone Videography
We used our 4K camera mounted on our DJI Phantom 4 drone to capture shots both outside on the campus lawns and inside the buildings. This provided the viewer a better perspective of the size of the campus and added a feeling of grandeur to the finished piece.
Video Editing
Before we sent on the footage to the Coast Guard, we had our editing team sit down with the footage and adjust lighting, final cuts, and produce a finalized version which was sent over to the Coast Guard for use in their televised commercial.
The Project Details
Objective
The Coast Guard academy wanted to create a video that would emphasize the value that their school offered, and the prestige of attending the institution. They planned to take the final footage and cut it for different ads that would run on television stations during sporting events.
Strategy
After sitting down with the Coast Guard’s team we took a tour of the campus and created a list of all the different shots we would want to take. Afterwards, we listed out the equipment we would need to use and built out the shooting schedule and project timeline.
Results
With the wonderful accommodation of the US Coast Guard, we were able to collect all of the necessary footage, take care of the editing, and get them everything they needed to put together a great advertisement that would build the brand of their school.
